Happy Bubble Bar

I'm quite excited when I get the opportunity to buy things from the Lush Kitchen that I haven't bought before so when I saw that Happy bubble bar would be making an entrance in one of the menus, I got my purse ready. I had heard a lot of brilliant things about this product and for that week's menu, it was said that Happy was the product to get.

I had the bubble bar in my bath product box for about a few weeks when I decided that it was about time that I used it. I got my sieve, my book and my camera ready and this is what I thought.

When I use bubble bars, instead of crumbling them underneath the tap with my hand like Lush say, I pop my bubble bar in a sieve and hold it under running water; I have found that this creates way more bubbles - which is brilliant.

Whilst Happy bubble bar is crumbling in the sieve, it gives off a citrus, earthy aroma which is absolutely gorgeous. My bathroom was instantly filled with this smell and I couldn't wait to get into the bath and clean my body in its waters.

The citrus elements come from the tangerine oil and the orange flower absolute and the earthy aromas come from the sandalwood oil, neroli oil and gardenia extract adds a very subtle floral smell.

When the bubble bar was gone, I was quite disappointed with the number of bubbles. I was expecting there to be a lot more (maybe my expectations were very high after using the Karma bubble bar).

It turned the water a light-turquoise that wasn't that really that far the natural colour of water but it was different enough for me to notice that it was (almost) a 'sea-like' colour.

I was also disappointed that the smell of the bubble bar didn't last a long time. It probably lasted for about 20 minutes before it disappeared. I was just glad that it lasted on my skin for an hour after I exited the bath because that was the only vestige of the bath that I had left.

Lush state that there is golden lustre used in the bubble bar and there is  - to etch 'happy' on the top of the product - but there is not enough to make it a glittery turquoise bath or to leave any lustre on your skin.

Once I had exited the bath, I noticed that my skin felt so smooth like all of Lush's bubble bars do.

Even though I was disappointed with the longevity of the smell and the lack of bubbles, Happy bubble bar is definitely a product that I would use again because I love the colour it turns the water and I do love the smell whilst it's there.

Karma Bubble Bar

First of all, can we just admire how beautiful this bubble bar is? The look of this product alone should make you want to buy it, with it rich, dark purple pyramid with a splash of orange around the middle and a glittery, golden melt top. Just...Wow...

I first used this product on January 7th, 2016... I was a bit late to join the Lushie community (but I'm here now!). No, I don't remember this date because of my 'awesome' memory, I referred to my personal Instagram account because I remembered that I took a picture of it and was so in awe, that I had to post the picture.

Anyway... Karma bubble bar... If you're a massive fan of the Karma scent family then this bubble bar is going to be heaven for you, if you're not familiar with the Karma aroma then you still need to check out this bubble bar because the smell is not overpowering but is still there enough to make you want to devour it.

Karma bubble bar is made up of six key oils: patchouli oil, sweet orange oil, lavendin oil, pine oil, lemongrass oil and elemi oil. Patchouli is a herb that belongs to the mint family but instead of having a mint scent, it has an earthy, woodland aroma that is used in aromatherapy for relaxation and uplifting effect of the mind.

Lavendin oil is a stronger version of lavender; it has the same properties as lavender: it's soothing, calming and healing. Lavendin oil also has a stronger scent that lavender. If you're not a fan of lavender, don't worry! You can only smell a slight hint of it in the Karma bubble bar.

Pine oil has a very fresh, woodland aroma (like patchouli) and is used for it's cleansing properties and it's soothing and calming effect on the mind. This is probably why Karma is such a popular scent in the Lush community because, all of the ingredients are steered towards making you calm and relaxed, making sure that your mind is made to feel free of any stress and that the woody, citrusy aroma of Karma is just so damn good!

For Lush's bubble bars, I used to crumble them underneath the tap like Lush recommend, but I found that a lot of residue from the bars would settle at the bottom of my bath which wasn't nice. Now, I place the bubble bar in a sieve and I hold the sieve underneath the hot water so that every single crumb of the bubble bar is used to create bubbles and a magical bathing experience. I have found that this method works very very well.

For its size, Karma didn't take long to disintegrate. I was probably holding the sieve under the water for about four minutes. This was actually quite impressive because The Modfather bubble bar is very small in size but took about seven minutes to disintegrate. So that was the first thing that impressed me about Karma bubble bar.

The second thing that instantly impressed me was the number of bubbles. After those four minutes, Karma had left me a mountain of bubbles. I couldn't believe it! There were so many!

The smell was perfect as well. I am slowly learning to love the Karma scent more and more (however, I still think that the Karma perfume is way too strong for my liking!) and the bubble bar - with its mix of citrusy and earthy aromas is heaven. You can smell Karma straight away and whilst you're bathing in its waters, it instantly puts your mind at ease so that you can relax.

The bubble bar creates a deep, purple colour which I think is the thing that makes this one of my top five bubble bars from Lush. The colour is just... I don't even know how to describe how gorgeous it is. The pictures here don't even do it justice.

The golden tip n the top of the bubble bar is pure, golden oil to make sure that the bath is also moisturising. It makes the water slightly shimmery, but not enough to put you off or leave glitter residue on your body and in your bath once you've drained the water. Karma bubble bar is very moisturising. Whilst I was reading my book in the bath, every 15 minutes or so, I had to keep stroking my arm because I was amazed by how smooth my skin felt.

I was very disappointed when I had to get out of the bath but the scent of the bubble bar followed me around for a good hour and it had made the bathroom smell amazing so at least I had a tiny bit of it still with me.

I cannot wait to use this bubble bar again. Even though it's in the year-round stock, I have about ten of these in my box because I just can't get enough of it.

The Modfather Bubble Bar

Since 2016 was the first year that Lush UK released a Father's Day line, I couldn't wait to try the new products out. First to try on my list was The Modfather bubble bar.

'Mods' was a sub culture that started in the 1960s in the United Kingdom and was a sub culture that was very focused on fashion and music. The term 'Mods' came from the late 1950s, when a small group of fashionable, London-based men were named 'Modernists', all because they listened to modern jazz.

The Mod sub culture grew and grew and grew until nearly every young male in the 60s was a Mod - and if they weren't, they were a rocker. Rockers and Mods didn't get along and this caused a moral panic with society; Mods and Rockers used to fight in the streets and start riots. It was safe to say that both groups didn't exactly have the best reputation.

In the late 60s, the rivalry died down due to bands such as The Who started to dress like Mods.

The Modfather bubble bar takes it's design from the Royal Air Force Roundel which was used as a Mod symbol in fashion back in the 60s. If you have Dads or Grandad's that were a Mod back in the day, the they will remember this symbol as the epitome of their youth; this is why The Modfather is such a fitting bubble bar design for a Father's Day range.

For those of you who are regular readers of my blog, you will know how much I absolutely love citrus, fruity, fresh scents; so when I read the description of this product and learnt that it smelled of brazilian orange, I knew that I had to get one.

I'm guilty when it comes to taking bath with Lush products; I always seem to go for the bath bombs first because I love it when bath bombs put on a magical show of colours. Because of this, I always forget how gorgeous bubble bars can be. I absolutely loved the colour that The Modfather turned my bath water; it was an amazing shade of blue that seemed to look shimmery, even though there isn't any lustre present in this bath bomb.

The Modfather is made up of ten ingredients, but only a couple of those make up the amazing aroma which accompanies this product: Brazilian orange oil and limonene. I was surprised to see that very few ingredients make up this wondrous smell. What's unfortunate is that the zesty smell isn't as strong as I thought it would be. When I picked it up and smelt it in the shop, it smelt quite strong, and I used this bubble bar two days after buying it so the weakish smell wasn't due to age.

As soon as I took this bubble bar out of it's wrapper, I smelt the orange instantly and I could smell it whilst I was in the bath, but I only got to smell the bubble bar properly when either my head my close to the water or when I moved quickly in the bath. Even though this bubble bar smells absolutely divine, I wish that it smelled stronger.

I don't use my hands like Lush suggest to crumble my bubble bars because I find that it leaves a lot of debris at the bottom of your bath, so I place my bubble bar in a sieve and hold it under the running water. This makes sure that I'm using every last spec of the product and ensures that I get every single bubble I can. However, this bubble bar took quite a while to break down. Considering that it is quite a small bubble bar, I thought that the hot, running water would break down the bubble bar in no time, but sadly it was the opposite. This meant that I was holding the sieve for about 7 minutes underneath the tap.

On a good note, so many bubbles were made from this bubble bar that I was impressed. The entire surface of the water was covered in lustrous bubbles and, over time - normally about half an hour - I find that the bubbles start to dissipate, but with The Modfather, the bubbles didn't start to disappear until nearly an hour and a half.

What I love about Lush bubble bars is how soft they make your skin feel but this bubble bar in particular made my body feel silky smooth at the same time as making my body smell slightly fruity.

Once I had gotten out of the bath, my body stayed moisturised from the bubble bar for a good few hours which was amazing, I didn't have to use one drop of moisturiser. Sadly, the smell of the Brazilian orange oil didn't last. Once I had towelled myself down, I could hardly smell The Modfather on my skin which was a disappointment.

Overall, this bubble bar could be better. I wish that the smell was a lot stronger and that it took less amount of time to break down but what you can smell of The Modfather is a fantastic orange scent and the colour that it turns the water beautiful. I have already ordered more of this bubble bar because I love the colour that it turns the water and I was very impressed with the amount of bubbles that it creates; I just hope that next year, Lush can make a few adjustments to make this bubble bar as amazing as I know it can be.
