Skin Sin Hand and Body Lotion

I have so many hand and body lotions from Lush that I've lost count, but the last time Skin Sin hand and body lotion came out was ages and ages ago, so when I saw it on the Lush Kitchen menu, I knew I had to get a few bottles. I heard a lot of mixed reviews about this product so I was eager to try it out and I had such high expectations of this because all of Lush's lotions have been amazing.

If it's one thing that I forget to do, it's moisturising when I come out of the shower and this leaves my skin feeling so dry. *Note to self: don't forget to moisturise!* So when I came out of the shower, I decided to give Skin Sin a try.

I've been using it for the past couple of weeks after I come out of the shower and it's left my skin feeling replenished and so smooth!

The almond oil helps soothe and hydrate the skin, cocoa butter softens and moisturises whilst also help to relieve dry and itchy skin and chamomile blue oil helps protect, soothe and calm the skin. With these three amazing ingredients, you know that you're skin is going to be looking great in no time!

The smell of this lotion is such a soft, subtle smell as well. I don't mind strong lotions like Tropical 

Jungle but I do prefer them when they're a softer smell like Skin Sin. It was the lavender that jumped out to me when I first squirted some into my hands; it was a softer smelling lavender than Dream Cream but it was mixed in with tangerine oil which added a zesty element to the lotion and an element that you could definitely smell after 30 seconds of applying the cream. After using it a few times, I also noticed the smell of the chamomile blue oil and the almond oil which blend in beautifully with the other ingredients.

The consistency of this lotion is quite thin, it's just slightly thicker than the 9 to 5 cleansing lotion and the Sympathy for the Skin hand and body lotion. It was a smooth and easy application and the lotion had absorbed into my skin seconds later and it doesn't make my body feel greasy at all .

Longevity wise, the smell of this body lotion lasts a very long time. To put it into perspective, I applied this cream about 1pm today and it's now 8:30pm and I can still just about smell it on my arms. That's seven and a half hours of the smell lasting! The smell that comes through the most during the day is the almond oil and the lavender oil which is a gorgeous smell to walk around with on your body! My arms and legs still feel silky smooth after seven and a half hours too. I would recommend that you use this product once a day and your skin should be replenished in no time!

Skin Sin hand and body lotion is now my favourite lotion that Lush has released. Sorry Karma Kream and Dream Cream but Skin Sin have beat you on this one!

I just can't get over how amazing it smells and how soft it leaves my body feel and I love how easily it absorbs into the skin. This means that I'm not sitting on my bed for about ten minutes waiting for the cream to absorb before I get changed.

Next time this comes out in the Lush Kitchen, I am definitely buying another bottle! I don't know what I would do if I ran out and couldn't get my hands on more! So if you're looking for a gentle body lotion with a soft smell of lavender and almond oil, if you want a cream that is easily absorbed and lasts a long time, then this is the cream for you!

Dream Cream Hand and Body Lotion

Dream Cream is Lush's number one hand and body lotion product and upon hearing this, I was intrigued. What makes it number one? It can't be that good, can it? I decided to give it a try...

I went onto the Lush Cosmetics website and ordered the 450g tub. I don't know why I ordered the biggest size, I guess I just felt optimistic that I wouldn't be wasting my money.

When it arrived, I immediately gave it a try. Taking off the lid, I was instantly hit with the smell of lavender (and I love lavender!) and a hint of the rose water and tea tree oil. I fell in love with the smell instantly.

Applying the cream to my body, I noticed that it had quite a medium thickness in consistency, like Tropical Jungle or Karma Kream. Its application was smooth and Dream Cream absorbed easily into my skin, making my body feel instantly nourished and I loved how it didn't make my skin feel greasy like some body lotions do.

The oat milk in Dream Cream is used to cool and calm the skin so if you have eczema, dry skin or hot, irritated skin, then I suggest that you buy Dream Cream because it has all of the ingredients to help skin that needs a bit of TLC.

Rose water also helps calm the skin and lends a hand to reduce redness or any irritation, so if you have a bad sunburn (like I did!) then the rose water in Dream Cream will help give your damaged, sunburnt skin some love and will make it less painful whilst it gets to work on soothing the area.

Chamomile blue oil, lavender and tea tree oil all help calm the skin and are wonders to help any skin that needs healing so again, if you're suffering from sunburn right now, these ingredients will speed up the healing process of the burnt areas of skin.

I used Dream Cream religiously for my sunburn and it helped cool and soothe it, just like Lush state and my skin felt instantly rejuvenated. Obviously, it didn't work overnight because sunburn is a pain to get rid of, but in a week, my skin didn't feel sore, the peeling had gone and all I was left with was a silly tan line on my back.


I also used this lotion when I had a sudden onset of dry skin on my leg. I applied Dream Cream and after a few days, the dry skin had gone.

Overall, I completely understand why this is Lush's number one hand and body lotion. It worked absolute wonders for my skin. Even though I don't suffer from dry skin that often, when I do, my immediate go-to cream is this.

Karma Kream Hand And Body Lotion

With it's creamy consistency and it's stunning aroma, this is a hand and body lotion that both new and old fans of Lush are going to love and that fans of the Karma family are going to treasure.

I wouldn't say I'm the number one fan of the Karma scent, but I definitely appreciate how good it smells and so when I had some spare money left over from my purchases from the Lush Kitchen, I decided to buy this lotion and give it a try.

If you have never used a Karma product before, I would describe the smell as earthy, sweet and citrusy all in one. It may sound disgusting that all three of these scents have been mixed together, but it wouldn't be one of Lush's most sought after scents for no reason; and that's because the earthy aroma is very much in the background of the scent family. 

The earthy element of Karma comes from the patchouli oil, lavenden oil and pine oil, the sweet smell is created by tincture of benzoin, orange flower water and the sweet orange oil and the citrus scent comes from lemongrass oil and elemi oil.

The most dominating smells are those of the sweet and citrus elements. 

After applying this lotion after I had stepped out of the shower and towelled myself dry, I noticed that the consistency of the cream was quite thick and gloopy but this didn't stop it from being one of those lotions where it's thick and therefore you have to use loads of it. I have found that with quite a lot of the products from Lush, it doesn't matter whether their creams have a thick or thin consistency, their creams absorb beautifully into the skin.

It's very similar to Tropical Jungle body lotion in the sense that if you a little bit too much then your skin will end up feeling greasy for a while after first applying it. Lush states that you can use Karma Kream in generous amounts but I recommend that you don't unless you want a greasy body.

I only applied a little amount to each area of my body so my skin didn't feel greasy at all. My body felt moisturised and silky smooth due to the almond oil and the cocoa butter that has been jam-packed into this fabulous lotion.

On other days, I also tested Karma Kream out as just a hand lotion and it worked just as well as it did with as a body lotion. My hands felt moisturised for hours and hours and didn't feel greasy at all as long as I didn't use too much of it. 

The longevity of the cream is also impressive. The smell lasted for a good couple hours on my skin and I loved walking around my house smelling of Karma and I also combined the lotion with spritzing my body with the Karma perfume which was gorgeous. The moisturising properties of the lotion were also very very good. I woke up the next morning (I came out of the shower about 8pm the previous night) and my body still felt smooth. Karma Kream hand and body lotion probably has the longest longevity of moisturising out of all the other lotions that Lush release.

This is probably one of my favourite creams from Lush and I will definitely be purchasing some more once I have finished my 225g tub.

Helping Hands Hand Cream

Whilst I was at university, I had to wash up. A lot. My hands used to get so dry and my skin used to peel. I started using Sympathy for the Skin at first and it was the only Lush hand cream that I owned. I then went into the Lush by my university and I saw that they sold this product: Helping Hands: a hand cream to use when "your hands spend too much time in the sink."

I bought it immediately. I started applying Helping Hands as soon as my hands were dry after washing up and it would help my skin feel moisturised again. And it worked very very well for those 'washing-up' hands. It would be the first thing I would do after washing up. Sometimes, I would even take it into my kitchen with me so that it was on hand after I had washed up.

I finished living at university a month ago and I still own the same cream as I did last year so it definitely lasts a long time.

Now that I'm not at uni, I don't really do that much washing up *sorry mom, sorry dad* but I do work in retail and when the shelves/rails are dusty, it really affects my hands and causes them to dry out very quickly.

So I started using Helping Hands again to see if it would help with having dusty hands *ew*. I apply some before I go to work and by the time and my hands are fine, but when I have applied the lotion after I have finished work and my hand are incredibly dry, I had to keep applying the cream about every 20 minutes. For those 20 minutes, the cream did however make my hands feel smooth and it did feel like it had absorbed well. It just didn't last long. This cream does work slightly better though for when after you've washed up. Not much better though.

Helping Hands has a woody, grassy scent which is made up of linseed mucilage and a floral scent which is made up from lavender oil, African marigold oil and alkanet extract. Even though the ingredients suggest that this cream will have a floral aroma, I found that it was more grassy than floral. The smell isn't strong either, which I like when it comes to hand creams. The smell is very slight and you only get a whiff of it when you're applying it.

Almond oil, shea butter and cocoa butter are jam-packed into Helping Hands to give it it's moisturising properties but with three moisturising ingredients in the product, I thought it would have lasted longer than 20 minutes.

This hand lotion is thicker than most hand creams from Lush. It's definitely a lot thicker than Sympathy for the Skin and it's slightly thicker than the Charity Pot. For Lush, it doesn't matter whether the cream has a thin or a thick consistency, you don't really need much for it to work. But with Helping Hands, I needed to put slightly more on that I would have liked for my hands to feel soft and then there's that 20 minutes problem...

Even though I thought it would have a floral smell, I still love the aroma that Helping Hands gives off and I guess you could say that the smell does last for a while as I had to keep reapplying it and I love how moisturising it is at first. But for me, that's the thing that let's this cream down. If it kept my hands moisturised for longer, then this would be in my top five for hand creams, but it doesn't and that's why I will always pick other Lush hand lotions over this one.

If you suffer from very dry skin from washing up or even eczema then this cream will work brilliantly for you, it will work absolute wonders, it did for me. But if you're using it as a general, every-day hand cream where your hands are only slightly dry, then I don't recommend it.

Sympathy For The Skin Hand and Body Lotion

This was the first ever hand and body lotion that I bought from Lush. I was at university and constantly washing up and my hands would get rough from the washing up liquid. I know what you're all thinking: 'why doesn't she just wear rubber gloves when washing up?' And the answer is: because we haven't got any in the flat and it's never crossed my mind to go and get some.

I wouldn't say that this lotion worked perfectly for hands that wash up (I later came across the 'Helping Hands' hand cream that IS for when you wash up) but it did get rid of some of the dryness and the cracked skin and it did make my hands go smooth.

And that's all I used Sympathy for for quite a while but then I decided to use it on my body after I had gotten out of the shower.

The texture of this cream is so smooth - it's not too thick but it's not runny either, it's got a nice consistency - and it smells like bananas (which I absolutely love!) It's not a strong smell, but you can definitely tell that it's there. One of other ingredients is vanilla and the vanilla combined with the bananas makes a smell that I can't get enough of.

People who buy this product may have a problem with the tiny black specs that are in this lotion which is the vanilla pod infusion. Looking inside the tub, you're probably thinking that there are loads of black bits, but when you put the lotion on your skin, you hardly notice them. You only see them if you go looking for them. I used it today for my entire body and only noticed a few specs on part of my arm and on my thigh.

Because the consistency of Sympathy is so good, you don't need much to cover your body. I've had this 100g tub now for about six months and I'm only half way through it - I've probably used it on my whole body for two and a half months.

Other people that have used this lotion has said that it works for their eczema as the sandalwood in the cream helps with anti-inflammatory.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this lotion and I know that next time I purchase it, I'm going to be buying the 240g instead. For those of you who are a bit weary about the black specs, get a tester pot first from your local store and try that first before you buy the full tub.

It's moisturising, conditioning, soothing, smells amazing and lasts for ages. It's everything that you could possibly wish for in a lotion that you're going to be putting over you're entire body.
