Uluru Shower Gel

Uluru shower gel is one of the most sought-after shower gels in the Lush Kitchen due to it being a mix of a fruit and citrusy smell (and if you're a regular reader of my blog, you will know that I love citrusy smells!)

This product is made up of a fresh lemon infusion to give it that citrus kick, Brazilian orange oil to add that fruity element (but to also add a fruity, citrus element), sandalwood oil gives off a woody aroma - however, I can't detect this in the shower - and last of all, macadamia nut oil adds the moisturising element to the shower gel.

When I first received Uluru in the post, I was amazed at how bright the orange colour of the product was! It's not a dull orange that you sometimes find with products. I took a quick sniff and I knew straight away that this was going to become one of my favourite smelling shower gels.

During the course of the month when I used it, I found that you have to use a bit more of Uluru to get a generous lather. If you use the normal amount - for me this is about the size of a 50p - then you still get a lather, but it's a very thin film.

However, no matter how much you use, the smell is very strong and fills your bathroom straight away. The smell of this shower gel is heavenly and I was so tempted to just eat it all up because of it;s fruity, citrus aroma (obviously, this would have been very bad for me, so I decided against it.)

Exiting the shower, I felt my arms and I noticed that they felt smooth and they also smelled amazing. I had my fingers crossed that the smell would linger on my skin for a good while.

Alas, this wasn't going to be the case. The smell of Uluru lasted for about 15 minutes until there wasn't any trace left.

I do recommend this shower gel! It smells amazing and it leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. It's just a shame that the smell doesn't last as long as other shower gels from Lush do. Once I have finished this bottle, I will definitely be re-purchasing a few more from the Lush Kitchen!

Karma Shower Gel

Ahoy Karma fans! Yes, I'm here to bring you another review of a product that is part of the Karma family (I seem to be doing quite a few of them lately!) So the product I'm going to review for you today is the Karma shower gel!

Sorry to give my rating away so early on but if you haven't got this already then go and buy it now! THIS. IS. AMAZING! Unfortunately, it's not in the Lush Kitchen right now so it might be on eBay?

I had high expectations before I first used this shower gel because of how good the other Karma products from Lush have been like the bubble bar and the body lotion.

Once I squirted a small amount onto my shower scrunchie (approximately the size of a 50p) and started cleaning my body, I noticed that this shower gel lathered up beautifully. Not long after, I was covered in a soft, white foam that made my skin feel silky smooth.

I actually thought that the shower gel would be red but it's orange which was surprising but this didn't bother me at all. It's not an inconvenience, merely an observation.

The smell of Karma hit me straight away: that familiar scent of the patchouli oil, lemongrass oil, and orange oil. I found that the shower gel was a stronger scent than the body lotion but it wasn't an identical smell to other Karma products that I have tried; Karma shower gel's aroma seemed to be more dominant by the lemongrass and orange oil rather than the lemongrass and patchouli oil; it seemed less 'spicy'.

Once I had exited the shower and towelled myself dry, I still noticed the smell of the shower gel on my skin and it lingered there for a good couple of hours and it also made my skin feel soft for about half an hour.

If you have the Karma Kream hand and body lotion, apply this onto your body after you have used the Karma shower gel and you can walk around with Karma clinging to your body and you can walk around smelling gorgeous. After I've used the shower gel, I always apply the body lotion afterwards so it's keeping with the Karma theme and moisturising my body at the same.

It's a massive shame that Karma shower gel is only a Lush Kitchen exclusive because the Karma scent family is one of Lush's most popular and I think that it would be hugely
successful if it was sold in the stores. I do hope that Lush do this in the future as I absolutely love this shower gel and I don't want to keep waiting for it to come out in the Kitchen. If I were to buy it on eBay, I would be paying double the retail price which is very very costly.

Happy Bubble Bar

I'm quite excited when I get the opportunity to buy things from the Lush Kitchen that I haven't bought before so when I saw that Happy bubble bar would be making an entrance in one of the menus, I got my purse ready. I had heard a lot of brilliant things about this product and for that week's menu, it was said that Happy was the product to get.

I had the bubble bar in my bath product box for about a few weeks when I decided that it was about time that I used it. I got my sieve, my book and my camera ready and this is what I thought.

When I use bubble bars, instead of crumbling them underneath the tap with my hand like Lush say, I pop my bubble bar in a sieve and hold it under running water; I have found that this creates way more bubbles - which is brilliant.

Whilst Happy bubble bar is crumbling in the sieve, it gives off a citrus, earthy aroma which is absolutely gorgeous. My bathroom was instantly filled with this smell and I couldn't wait to get into the bath and clean my body in its waters.

The citrus elements come from the tangerine oil and the orange flower absolute and the earthy aromas come from the sandalwood oil, neroli oil and gardenia extract adds a very subtle floral smell.

When the bubble bar was gone, I was quite disappointed with the number of bubbles. I was expecting there to be a lot more (maybe my expectations were very high after using the Karma bubble bar).

It turned the water a light-turquoise that wasn't that really that far the natural colour of water but it was different enough for me to notice that it was (almost) a 'sea-like' colour.

I was also disappointed that the smell of the bubble bar didn't last a long time. It probably lasted for about 20 minutes before it disappeared. I was just glad that it lasted on my skin for an hour after I exited the bath because that was the only vestige of the bath that I had left.

Lush state that there is golden lustre used in the bubble bar and there is  - to etch 'happy' on the top of the product - but there is not enough to make it a glittery turquoise bath or to leave any lustre on your skin.

Once I had exited the bath, I noticed that my skin felt so smooth like all of Lush's bubble bars do.

Even though I was disappointed with the longevity of the smell and the lack of bubbles, Happy bubble bar is definitely a product that I would use again because I love the colour it turns the water and I do love the smell whilst it's there.

Magic Bath Bomb

I have heard so many good things about this bath bomb and have only come across perhaps two bad reviews. With this - and the fact that it has been a regular in the Lush Kitchen this year - I decided to purchase some and experience this for myself.

Upon unwrapping this bath bomb from it's Lush Kitchen paper, I could instantly smell the peppermint oil and the rose absolute; the peppermint oil was the stronger aroma of the two. I absolutely love minty smells and Dirty Springwash shower gel is like heaven to me, so when I smelled Magic, I knew I was going to love the scent that I was about to bathe in.

Whilst I was bathing in the magical waters, I noticed that the floral and minty aromas of this bath bomb merged to create an herbal - almost medicinal - smell. Sounds disgusting right? It really isn't.

For those of you who don't like minty smells, when I say that the peppermint is the stronger smelling ingredient of the two, the scent is overpowering, it's a very subtle minty-floral smell, one that a none-mint lover wouldn't turn their nose up at is disgust.

The Magic bath bomb shares the same shape as the favourite The Experimenter bath bomb and holds the same wonders as it's counterpart.

When I popped this beauty in the bath, I was so surprised by how fast it fizzed! I had to hold it still for a bit so that I could take photos and even then, blue was spurting out of the bath bomb like wildfire.

After about 30/40 seconds, a reddish/pink started to erupt from Magic and caused the colour of the water to remind me of the colours of the Twilight bath bomb. Pink started to merge with blue and then it created a beautiful blue/purple towards the end of it fizzing.

Whilst Magic was fizzing away, but of parsley sprig were released and floated on the surface of my bath. I'm not really sure what the purpose of these was; they didn't really add anything to the bathing experience. There were about five little sprigs of parsley that were released but they didn't get in the way and were very easy to get out of the bath once I had finished.

To be completely honest, I was disappointed with how fast it fizzed. From reviews that I have read, I thought that it would be like Frozen or Dragons Egg where it would be foamy and take it's time to release its gorgeous colours. Alas, this wasn't the case and after double and triple checking the ingredients, there wasn't any cream of tartar used for Magic, which meant one thing: there definitely wasn't meant to be any foam. Just pure, fast fizzing.

I also didn't find Magic to be as moisturising as other bath bombs that I have used from Lush, this was also disappointing again because I have read many reviews where it stated that Magic was moisturising. Had I used a faulty bath bomb? I had only used it about a week after receiving it in the mail...

But even though I had a couple of experiences with Magic that didn't live up to my expectations, the smell was absolutely divine and made me feel completely relaxed and my mind felt at ease after a very stressful day. The colour of the water was gorgeous and I also heard the tweeting of the birds which also made my mind feel calm.

The smell of the bath bomb lingered on my skin for a good few hours which was very impressive and I woke up the next morning and I could still smell Magic in my hair which was awesome.

I will be trying out this bath bomb again, just to see if the one I used to write this review was faulty. If it turns out that it was indeed faulty, I shall update this review immediately.

Overall, this bath bomb wasn't as good as everyone was making it out to be but I was still very impressed with the colour of the bath, the fantastic aromas that filled my bathroom and how long the smell clung to my skin after exiting the bath.

B-Electro Shower Gel

B-Electro is one of the coolest looking shower gels that I think that Lush have released, parring with Narcotick and Calacas.

From the outside, it portrays an electric green colour and inside the bottle, the liquid tells the same story. What attracted me to this shower gel is the description on the bottle: "Danger! Danger! High Voltage!" It is reminscent of the hilarious song by Electric Six called 'Danger! High Voltage!' This song is a very fond childhood memory of mine, my parents and I used to sing this song all the time, laughing at the video and how the song is sang.

So as soon as I saw the description, I knew I had to get this shower gel and see what it was like, so when I grabbed a bottle in the Lush Kitchen, I was eager to try it out.

B-Electro has a very full smell; full in the sense that there is a lot going on. Lush mentions that it has a zesty, floral smell and reading this description, I was confused. How can a shower gel have both of those smells at once? Wouldn't that be disgusting?

Squirting it onto my shower scrunchie, I noticed the floral smell straight away and it shared similarities with Ghost shower gel. The rose petals, rose absolute and jasmine definitely make their appearance in B-Electro. Underneath the floral aroma, I could smell a woody element which comes from the tincture of benzoin. But all in all, I was quite disappointed with the smell because I couldn't smell any citrus in the product like Lush said, it was a woody, floral smell instead. Still nice, but not what I was expecting.

The bright green liquid has the 'normal' consistency that you would expect from a shower gel: it wasn't too thick and it wasn't too thin. It created a light foam and because I'm used to thick foams coming from Lush's shower gels, B-Electro's light foam was slightly disappointing. However, it still lathered up quite nicely and the jojoba oil made sure that the shower gel moisturised my skin and made my body feel soft.

The aroma of B-Electro lasted on my skin for about half an hour which was good and my skin stayed moisturised throughout the day.

Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the false advertising of the smell - I don't know, maybe other users of this shower gel smelled the citrusy aromas of the grapefruit oil - but the shower gel still did smell amazing with it's floral, woody smell. And it's the smell of B-Electro that will make me want to keep using this product. It's not on my list of top 10 shower gels, but it still is very good and I was thoroughly impressed with how moisturising it was.

Twilight Solid Perfume

When you think of Twilight from Lush, you automatically think of their Twilight bath bomb - which is one of their more popular bath bombs due to the amazing colours that gets spewed out the centre.

Most people forget that their are other Twilight fragranced items out there, albeit they're more hard to come by, but they still exist.

I wouldn't say that I'm a massive fan of the Twilight scent - like the Karma family, I do like the smell but I wouldn't say that it's my favourite but even so, I like it enough to splurge all of my pay checks that carries the Twilight scent.

The Twilight solid perfume was released in the Lush Kitchen and I was a bit weary to get it at first. I'm very picky when it comes to perfumes and I like to test them out in the shops before I buy them. At the end of the day, who wants to buy a perfume online only for it to come in the mail and it smell disgusting? Definitely not me. So I was taking a big leap of faith here by purchasing the solid perfume, especially since perfumes can differ from their bath bomb counterparts. But, I ordered it and eagerly awaited it's arrival so that I could try it out.

The solid perfume has a very similar smell to the bath bomb but the one thing about the smell that I found different was that it's very much a stronger smell and there isn't really a dominant smell. The lavender oil and ylang ylang absolute create the floral element of the perfume, the tonka absolute adds to vanilla aroma. 'Lavender and vanilla?!' I hear you scream, 'those two ingredients can't make a nice smell, surely?'.

Well guys... They do, they really really do. I mentioned before that I wasn't a massive fan of the Twilight scent family, but this perfume has made me a bigger fan and appreciate the scent more. It's mix of floral and vanilla creates this perfect aroma that you won't be able to get enough of. It's also got a slight spicy smell, it's not overpowering but it's definitely there in the background. My Mom isn't a Lush Cosmetics fan at all, she doesn't get my whole obsession, but when she smelled the Twilight solid perfume, she wanted to steal it off and keep it for herself. Maybe that will put it in perspective of how nice this perfume smells.

When I am using this perfume, I apply it on my wrists and on both sides of my neck. I work in retail and every time I lift my arms to reach for something or I turn my head quickly, I get a waft of the perfume and it's gorgeous. You don't need much of this at all. I always wear this to work because the smell lasts for about two/three hours; I did think that it would last longer however, because my other perfumes (not Lush) last for a good six/seven hours. So the longevity of the perfume was slightly disappointing for me.

I have used this perfume nearly every day since it arrived in March and the pictures here just show that the perfume is going to last ages; three months using it and it looks like it hasn't even got a dent. It's also self-preserving so there's no rush to use it in a year.

Overall, this is a very impressive solid perfume from Lush and the fact that it's bettered my opinion on the Twilight scent family, I think that says something. The longevity of the smell could be slightly better but other than that, this is a must-have for any Lushie who loves Twilight. I'm definitely going to be buying this again when it's re-released in the Kitchen.

Black Pearl Shower Gel

Black Pearl shower gel has been a rarity in the Lush community for years so when I saw it on the Lush Kitchen menu for the week beginning 30th May 2016, I knew that I had to get my hands on some.

I had seen pictures after pictures depicting how beautiful this product was and how amazing it smelled, I had reviews telling me that I had to get it otherwise I would be missing out on it. 

This review is going to do just that: if it hasn't done already.

Upon first looking at Black Pearl, it has an ashen-grey colour which doesn't look too appealing, but if you look closer, then you can see the silver lustre through the bottle. In the ingredients, Lush state the the lustre as "edible"... Hmmm... Can someone let me into the Lush Kitchen please so I can try this out? *begging*

When you take the lid off, the shower gel looks even more shiny and the grey doesn't actually look that bad as when you first see it. Maybe it would be better if the shower gel was actually black with silver lustre? Would that be possible, because that would be amazing and would suit the name more.

Chamomile is an essential oil that helps sensitive skin and can also be used as an alternative to lavender; it's gentle oil soothes and calms skin that has been irritated.

Lavender is also used in this shower gel and it helps soothe your mind and your muscles so if you've had a hard day at work or you're just aching in general, lavender will work wonders. Lavender absolute can also be found in Black Pearl; it's sweeter than it's oil counterpart and has a less floral fragrance. Lavender absolute is also calming and soothes muscles.

The olibanum oil found in the shower gel has a more woody, spicy aroma. The oil is effective on sore skin, so it would be good for eczema.

Whilst I was lathering up with Black Pearl in the shower, I couldn't really smell the olibanum oil; the lavender was the frontrunner scent and smelled very similar to the Softy foot lotion. If you don't like lavender, I wouldn't recommend this shower gel

Because I love lavender, this shower gel was perfect for me. The smell was so strong that it was overpowering, it was subtle and it did actually manage to make me feel slightly relaxed. 

The consistency of Black Pearl is quite gloopy - it's slightly thicker than The Comforter but this didn't mean it lathered up poorly.

I found that it is one of the best shower gels for it's lather. The first time that I used it, I squirted the 'normal' amount onto my shower scrunchie and I realised that I could get away with using a lot less. So that's what I did when I used it for the second time; I squirted a lot less on (maybe the same size as a 10p piece?) It still lathered up beautifully and after I had finished cleaning my body, I had a lot of lather left over on so I just kept massaging this gorgeous shower gel onto my skin.

The longevity of the lavender aroma didn't really last a long time on my skin, so I was slightly disappointed. The smell lasted for about 20 minutes which isn't long at all compared to other shower gels that Lush have released.

Overall, Black Pearl is a fantastic shower gel; sure it could actually be black (please?), it could have a slightly stronger smell and the smell could last longer but the look of this shower gel trumps all of those slight negatives. If you're looking for a shiny, lavender scented shower gel that makes your skin feel smooth, then this is the shower gel for you.

My Father's Day and Lush Kitchen Haul

The Olive Branch Body Lotion

If you love The Olive Branch shower gel then you will definitely love this! Sometimes when Lush release a lotion of the same name as a shower gel or bath bomb, the smell tends to be different, slightly tweaked. Not this one.

As soon as I saw The Olive Branch body lotion on the Lush Kitchen menu, I knew that I had to get it. I'm a massive fan of the shower gel and I was hoping more than anything that Lush had kept to the same recipe as this for the body lotion.

The ingredients are very very similar to that of the shower gel, obviously there has to be some difference because this is a lotion but I was very surprised to see that there were no actual olives in the ingredients for the lotion. After looking at the ingredients for the shower gel, I saw that there was olive oil in it, but when I looked at the ingredients for The Olive Branch body lotion - nothing. No olives whatsoever. Is it just me, or is that a bit strange?

The body lotion smells slightly weaker than the shower gel but this didn't affect how amazing this product is. One of the main smells of The Olive Branch family is citrus and in this lotion, there was a slight citrusy aroma; it wasn't weak but it wasn't overpowering. Looking at the ingredients for this lotion, I did think that the citrus element would be stronger since Lush use lemon oil, orange flower absolute, mandarin oil, citral, citronellol and bergamot oil. Sadly, it wasn't.

I do think it could have been slightly stronger so that you can smell it as soon as you open up the tub but that is a very very small problem because as soon as you apply this product to your skin, the smell comes through a bit more and lingers on your skin.

What is absolutely brilliant about this lotion however is that the smell that you do get from the lotion lasts a couple of hours, not as long as Sympathy for the Skin or Tropical Jungle but still a good amount of time that you feel satisfied.

The amount of cream shown on my fingers above covered the entirety of the top of my leg, the same amount then went on to cover the bottom half of my leg so as you can see, you don't need much. However, when I was moisturising the rest of my body, what I found out was that if you use a tiny bit too much, it can leave your skin feel greasy and oily so you have to be careful with the amount that you're using. I recommend that you use a tiny bit at a time - maybe use one finger to get cream out of the tub, that way at least your skin won't end up greasy.

The consistency of this product is quite thin, very similar to that of Karma Kream so a little bit of this will go a long way. The almond oil and the cocoa butter in this lotion do an amazing job at softening your skin and making it feel silky smooth for hours.

Overall, this body lotion is very good. It smells nearly identical to the shower gel, the smell lingers on your skin for a couple of hours and your skin feels smooth for hours afterwards. I just wish that the smell was slightly stronger. However, I do really like this body lotion and I can tell that it's going to last me a very long time and I can't wait to buy some more when it next comes out in the Lush Kitchen!

Spring Cleanser Facial Cleanser

Ever since I received this product last month, I have been using it day and night just so I could write this review. And after a month of using the Spring Cleanser Facial Cleanser, I can safely say that I absolutely love it.

I use this facial cleanser in the morning and at night before I go to bed so I can get rid of all the dirt that has accumulated on my face during the day. If I have worn make-up during the day, I use the facial cleanser in the morning before I put my make-up on, after I take my make-up off and then at night.

This is a brilliant product to use after you've taken your make-up off because people don't realise how much make-up actually stays on after you've used your face wipes. Using this after I had taken my make-up off, I could see leftover foundation on the cotton pad. After I have taken my make-up off, I use this cleanser twice just to make sure I have gotten everything off.

To use this cleanser, I squirt a bit into my hand and massage it onto my face in a circular motion. Then I wet a cotton pad underneath the tap and then squeeze all the excess water out so it's just damp and then I wipe the cleanser off my face.

I have found - over the course of the last month - that this product has reduced the redness on my face and has also made my spot disappear quite quickly. I know that you see a spot on your face and it never seems to disappear and when it does, you cry with relief, but this cleanser helps them go away much much quicker. This is due to it getting rid of all that excess dirt that builds up in your pores over the day. It's a good idea to make sure you stick to using this morning and night and definitely after you've taken make-up off.

The amount shown on my fingers above is enough to cover my face. It doesn't look like a lot but because Spring Cleanser has such a thin consistency, a little bit can go a long way.

Spring Cleanser facial cleanser has an aroma of cucumbers and flowers mixed together. It may not sound too appealing but it really does smell fresh and soothing. This product is made up of violet leaf absolute which is a sweet-smelling plant which gives the cleanser it's floral smell; violet leaf absolute is also antibacterial and antiseptic which makes it a brilliant ingredient for skin care products.

The fennel oil is what makes this product a cleanser as fennel oil is used to treat oily and congested skin - which means that it's perfect for after you've taken your make-up off or at the end of the day to get rid of any excess dirt that may be clogging up your pores.

Almond oil is another key ingredient in this product as it's this that makes the cleanser conditioning and makes sure that your face feels smooth and refreshed after using it.

Together these ingredients make this brilliant facial cleanser product.

Spring Cleanser smells amazing, works really well and lasts a long time. After using this product for the last month, the bottle isn't even a quarter empty and that's after using it 2/3 times a day for four weeks. I feel like all of these qualities make this product great value for money. It's just a shame that this rarely comes out in the Lush Kitchen because when I have finished my bottle, I will be desperate to get my hands on some more.
