Rock Star Soap

The Rock Star soap from Lush seems to be a staple item in every Lushie household and it is a bestseller in nearly every Lush Cosmetics store across the globe? Why?! I hear you yell... Well...

This soap is probably one of the best smelling products I've ever smelt in my entire life and over nearly 21 years, I can safely say that I've smelt a lot of cosmetics. It's sweet, candy, fruity scent is made up of a mix of vanilla absolute and sorbitol.

When I was looking at the list of ingredients when I first bought this soap last year, I was very surprised to see that there wasn't any berry juice of any kind that was used to make Rock Star. Considering it's got a tinge of fruity aroma to it and it has such a strong scent in general, I was genuinely wondering how Lush got that sweet, fruity kick from just two ingredients that are made to create the actual scent and not the colour or foam.

This is a beautiful smelling product and as if that wasn't enough, it also looks amazing too - it looks good enough to eat (although I suggest that you don't). It's baby pink colour goes hand-in-hand with it's aroma and if you're lucky, you actually get a indentation of a star on the soap.

If you've got a bigger size than 100g, I suggest that you cut the soap up so it can comfortably fit in the palm of your hand otherwise it will be a pain to use and you may end up dropping it consistently.

To use this in the shower, I recommend that you wet the soap underneath the water first and then move the shower head away from the soap, then rub the soap all over your body. This will create a lovely amount of lather on your body and on your hands. After you've done that, I suggest that you put the soap to one side (again, out of the way of the shower head) and use your hands to spread the lather out on your body.

I have found that this works very well. The amount of lather that Rock Star works up is amazing and it's one of the best soaps that Lush offer that lather up without any problem.

The smell of this soap also lingers on you skin for about four hours which is amazing because I loved walking around smelling of this soap. It made me feel so fresh and clean.

Unfortunately, I cannot say whether this soap is moisturising in the shower or not because Lush's soaps have yet to agree with my skin in the shower and instead of making my skin soft, it tends to leave it dry.

This was the same for when I used the soap for just my hands. I loved the way my hands smelled afterwards but Rock Star left my hands feeling dry which wasn't nice. The only thing that I could revel in was the smell.

However, it's like I said before, every single soap that I have tried from Lush doesn't' seem to work well for my skin in the shower and only a handful work for me when I'm just using the soaps for my hands. I can only write about what this soap does for my body so you never know, you could be the lucky bugger that all of the soaps from Lush work for. If that is you, I envy you.

Overall, I completely understand why this soap is a staple bathroom item within in the Lush community: it looks amazing, smells amazing and the smell lasts for ages. Even though soaps from Lush don't really work for my skin, I can safely say that once I've finished the block that I'm using at the moment, I will be buying another one just for the smell.
