Slammer Shower Gel

After seeing a whole bunch of new shower gels on the Kitchen Exclusive page, I knew that I had to get them. I'm constantly looking for new shower gels in Lush - my new obsession maybe?

When I saw Slammer and read that it was a citrusy gel, I immediately added it to my basket. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love citrus smells.

Unfortunately, they only sold it in the 250g and not the 100g. You may be thinking: 'well wouldn't she want the bigger bottle?' Yes, you're right, but all of my other shower gels are 100g and it looks weird on my shelf now with three bottles of shower gel bigger than the rest... But oh well...

I was so eager to use Slammer that I used it the day it arrived in the post and it was an absolutely gorgeous shower experience.

The smell of the gel filled the bathroom whilst I was using it, but the smell didn't linger on my skin for as long as I wanted it to. After about half an hour, the smell of lemon and lime had disappeared.

Slammer is a lovely, orange colour that makes you feel so warm and comforted, like you're washing yourself in the sun.

The shower gel is quite thick as well, it's not runny at all - which I was very happy about as runny shower gels/creams just don't look appealing. But the thickness of this gel looked so smooth and there's also a very very slight hint of glitter to it. I don't think there's actual glitter pieces in it but from the angle I was looking at, there seemed to be a slight shimmer. Trick of the light maybe?

However, the only (slightly) bad thing that I would say about this shower gel is that I had to use a bit more of the product than usual to get a lot of lather. I know that I have the 250g bottle but I still don't want to be using more than I should be.

Overall, I would definitely buy this product again. Even though I have to use a bit more of the shower gel to get the lather I want and the longevity of the smell was disappointing, I would say that it is worth it because it smells divine.

Cinders Bath Bomb

Image taken from: lushuponatime.com

This was the very first Christmas themed bath bomb that I had ever bought. I'm not really huge fan of cinnamon but upon smelling this, the cinnamon didn't seem to be too overwhelming. It's quite a small bath bomb as well - at £2.95, you wouldn't expect it to be much bigger - so I wasn't expecting much.

Upon putting the bath bomb in the water, Cinders dropped to the bottom of the bath and fizzled out slowly. I was disappointed that it had dropped to the bottom, I was expecting it to fizz on top of the water, like every other bath bomb that I had used did. Alas, this wasn't the case with Cinders and I watched as it turned the water a very murky, unlikeable yellow.

There were no sparkles, no surprising colours; just a dull, boring, unsightly yellow colour and even then the yellow drastically and had almost completely disappeared once I had gotten out of the bath. So I was left to bathe - towards the end - in a yellowy-clear bath.

It did smell very nice. As I said before, I am not a massive fan of cinnamon but this wasn't too strong. This bath bomb contains cinnamon leaf, almond oil and sweet orange which does actually give off the scent of Christmas it kind of reminds me of the Pumpkin Spice Latte that Starbucks do at Christmas time. However, the smell did not last long. I had barely been in the bath for 20 minutes and the smell had disappeared completely and there was no trace of it on my body once I had gotten out of the bath.

Normally, I stay in the bath for about an hour and a half - I watch a couple of episodes of TV and then get out - but with Cinders, I stayed in the bath for 45 minutes. It just wasn't an enjoyable experience for me. I wasn't sitting in the bath thinking  "ooh, that was nice" and I certainly didn't leave the bathroom upon getting out thinking the bathroom smelt nice - because it didn't smell of anything. At all.

Image taken from: www.kayleighkmua.com

All of this negativity though could be due to the fact that I used this bath bomb once I had stored it in my bedroom for a couple of months. Even so, I don't expect the bath bombs performance to deteriorate that quickly.

Overall, this wasn't a brilliant bath bomb. It smells nice, but the smell doesn't last for long, it turns the water a gross yellow and even that disappears.

However, I don't know if this is due to the bath bomb not being used straight away so yes, I would buy it again if it comes out this Christmas and I will use it pretty much straight away to see if there is any difference in the performance. If there isn't, then this bath bomb isn't really worth selling.

Description On Lush:
This is a bath bomb to evoke the feeling of sitting by a crackling fireside, drinking a glass of warm fruit punch. Cinders is designed to bring comfort at Christmas. Lie back, letting the water support your body, and listen to the fire as the smell of fruit punch fills the room.

The Rough With The Smooth Body Scrub

I was a bit cautious about buying some of the solid shower scrubs. I didn't know how long that they would last for, I didn't know if they would work (I guess that you think these things whenever you buy any Lush product, but bottled shower gels feel like a safe option).

Needless to say, I was very impressed by the results. Using The Rough With the Smooth in replacement of a shower gel, I scrubbed my entire body with this scrub and whilst scrubbing myself clean, I could feel the granulated sugar scrape all of the dead skin off of my body.

After I washed the sugar off, I felt one of my arms and they felt unimaginably soft from the murumuru butter.

The smell is gorgeous as well; it's a mix of wood and earth, with a hint of sweetness. It may sound like it smells disgusting but if you like earthy smells, this is definitely for you. The smell also lingers on your skin for a good hour which is another positive and something that seems to be a consistency with Lush products.

Once I had finished with the body scrub, I noticed that it had gone down quite a bit which concerned me. It hadn't felt like I had used a lot and I'm hoping that this lasts longer that I anticipate it will. It looks like it will probably last for about another five uses, but I'm hoping I can get ten uses out of it, otherwise it will feel like a product that I have wasted my money on.

Overall, I absolutely loved this product and even though I'm weary about how long this product will last, I will relish every time I use it.

Description On Lush:
Treat your body to this little piece of rough, made with scrubby granulated sugar and murumuru butter for devilishly smooth skin. Yuzu & Cocoa Bubbleroon

As a massive fan of the Yuzu & Cocoa Shower Cream, I couldn't wait to try out the Bubbleroon. The smell of the underlying cocoa butter in the shower cream is gorgeous and I was eager to see what it was like it bath form.

When I'm normally using bubble bars, I crumble them under running water like Lush suggests that you do however, whenever I do this I am left with bubble bar residue at the bottom of my bath - and it's not really that nice to sit on little bit of bubble bar.

Bearing this in mind, I decided to take a new approach when using the bubbleroon. I decided to place the product in a sieve and then put the sieve under the running water. I was surprised by how well it worked. There were still a lot of bubbles and it still coloured the water.

As you can see from the pictures and videos above, plenty of bubbles erupt from the bubbleroon giving you an amazing, bubbly bathing experience.

If you are familiar with the Yuzu & Cocoa Shower Cream and you love the smell of it, then I recommend to definitely buy this product. The smell is very very similar - which is exactly what I wanted. The smell of the cocoa butter is definitely there but it's also mixed in with and orange-citrusy smell - again, similar to the shower cream.

The bubbleroon also contains shea butter, cocoa butter and avocado butter so you know that you're also going to get out of the bath feeling moisturised and fresh. Which is exactly what happened to me, my skin felt so soft and the smell of the bath lingered on my skin and in the bathroom for about 4 hours, I couldn't have been happier.

After the bubbles and foam have disappeared, you're left with a burnt yellow, slightly sparkly bath which uplifts your mood and makes you feel calm.

There is enough of this bubbleroon to break in half and use in two baths, but personally I like using the whole thing to give me the full experience of the Yuzu & Cocoa smell. In addition to just being greedy, I also find the bubblroon's hard to break in half - but maybe that's just me being clumsy?

Overall, this make a perfect addition to your bath collection and since it's a regular in Lush shops, you don't have to go out and buy a basket full at once. But I would definitely recommend you go to your nearest Lush shop as soon as possible as purchase this product.

Description On Lush:
For those times when you need a bit of comfort. Instead of reaching for a sweet treat, run a bath and crumble this macaroon-shaped bar under the tap for some serious indulgence. With moisturising Fair Trade, Organic cocoa butter and shea butter, Yuzu and Cocoa has a mood-brightening colour and scent thanks to a blend of citrus oils, with a chocolatey undertone. All those gorgeous butters get to work feeding your skin as you soak, while the citrus oils pep up your mood.

Ingredients:

Ultrabland Facial Cleanser

I bought this when I went on one of my Lush hauls with my best friend. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, I just wanted to look around. A sales assistant approached my friend and I and told us about Ultrabland facial cleanser. She told us that she puts Ultrabland all over her face (over the top of her make up), leaves it on for about 30 seconds and then sprays a toner over the top and wipes it off using a cotton pad.

I was listening so intently. At first, I thought 'that's a lot of products on your face at the same time'. She then proceeded to demonstrate with some lipstick on my friends hand and the lipstick just came off; there was a still a hint of lipstick on her hand but most of it had gone. I was amazing.

So there and then, I bought my Ultrabland facial cleanser and my Tea Tree toner water.

On the night, I went to try out this particular regime. So applied the products over my make up and wiped them off using cotton pads. It worked so well! The only problem I had was that I had to use a lot of the facial cleanser and a lot of the toner and because I can't afford to go on Lush hauls everyday, I have to be very very careful with the amount of money I spend. I just couldn't afford to use that amount of the two products every night.

But it did work well... It is harder to get lipstick off because it stains very slightly and mascara, well... It didn't work for that so much.

So I decided not to take my make up off like that.

The next night, I took my make up off like I normally do: with my make up wipes. Obviously, after you've taken make up off using wipes, your face feels tight and dry. After I had done that, I put the Ultrabland over my face, left it on for about a minute and then sprayed the Tea Tree toner water over the top and then wipes the cleanser off with cotton pads.

I felt like this worked so much better. My face still felt moisturised and by still using the toner water, I had still gotten rid of any left over make up or dirt on my face.

The amount shown on my finger in the picture above covered my forehead and part of one of my cheeks (this is for my own regime when I used the make up wipes first). It may sound like you need to use a lot but you don't. I've been using it every night for two weeks and it's hardly made a dent in the tub, so this will last a very long time.

Ultrabland smells magnificent. It reminds of the smell of vanilla for some reason, I don't know why because it has no vanilla in the ingredients. But the sweet scent of honey mixed in with the beeswax melts into your skin, making it feel soft and moisturised.

Beeswax contains vitamin A and provides long-term moisturising by locking moisture into the skin. This is probably not the best thing to use if you already have oily skin, so I would recommend this for people who have quite dry or normal skin.

The picture above shows my face when I have just put Ultrabland on my face. If you're thinking that my face looks really greasy and shiny, look at my Tea Tree toner blog post and you will see what my face looks like after I wiped the cleanser off with my toner.

After I've wiped the cream off, the smell of the honey and beeswax lingers on your skin until the next morning and your skin stays hydrated until the next night.

This product is amazing and one of my favourite Lush products.

Description On Lush:
Based on an ancient Greek formula for cold cream, Ultrabland is beautifully simple and very effective. Made with almond oil, rose water, beeswax and honey, this cleanser removes all traces of dirt and makeup, without stripping away your skin's natural defences. Smooth over the face, any dirty will cling to the cream and you can remove it with a warm damp cloth or cotton wool.

Beautiful Shower Gel

The only reason I bought this at first is because I was going on a shower gel spree in Lush, I wanted to collect every single one of them.

Beautiful is such a gorgeous colour. It's yellowy, orange liquid looks so warm and comforting and the gel has small pieces of glitter in it to sparkle up your day. The description on the bottle: 'you've got to get up in the morning with a smile on your face' is definitely possible with the glitter, the warm, sunny colour and the smell.

I used it for the first time last night and it smelt amazing. One of the ingredients is fresh peach juice and you can definitely smell this when you're using it. A slight citrusy smells engulfs your shower and body and the sunny yellowy, orange liquid takes you to another world for a few minutes.

This shower gel is quite thick like the Yuzu & Cocoa shower cream and you don't really need that much to get a lot of lather which is fantastic because at least then it's going to last you longer and you can save that bit more money to spend on other Lush products!

However... Yes, there's a negative...I was just slightly disappointed with the longevity of the smell. Once I had finished in the shower, I went into my bedroom and I could no longer smell the gorgeous scent of Beautiful. I wanted to go in the shower again, just to lather myself in it again but alas, that would be a waste.

This shower gel is a regular at the moment in Lush stores so get your hands on one before they discontinue it. Because we all know what will happen after that: it will end up in the Lush Kitchen and it will be sold out at 08:15am before you can get yours.

Beautiful is exactly that: beautiful. Everything about it screams the perfect shower gel apart from the fact that you can't smell it on your body after you come out of the shower. That's the only bad thing that I can say about this product.

Description On Lush:
If you feel anything less than a vision of loveliness in the morning, this peachy keen shower gel is the one for you. A blend of warming and exotic myrrh resinoid brings a sensual musk to the sunny perfume of fresh peach juice and dried apricots, and feels sensationally soft on the skin. Adorn yourself in the rich, creamy lather of this warm, floral tonic to feel gorgeous, inside and out. 1000 kisses from us to you...

Ingredients:
Myrrh Gum Powder and Apricot Infusion, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Lauryl Betaine, Propylene Glycol, Lactic Acid, Fresh Peach Juice, Labdanum Resinoid, Osmanthus Absolute, Myrrh Resinoid, Gardenia Extract, Carrageenan Extract, Gold Glimmer Lustre, Methylparaben, Colour 19140

Yoga Bomb Bath Bomb

Yoga Bomb is one of Lush's hidden treasures. It doesn't look like much from the outside; with a plain orange design, it's not really eye catching among the other rainbow coloured bath bombs in Lush.

However, once you pop it in the bath and it gets fizzing, the boring orange shell is forgotten and you may as well be lying on top of a rainbow and dreaming of unicorns and sparkles. Yes, that's how amazing this bath bomb is.

At first, Yoga Bomb fizzes orange for a while, spreading it colour out to fill the whole bath in a matter of seconds. After fizzing for about a minute, a whole world of colours explodes and your bath is filled with magic. Like I said: unicorns, rainbows and sparkles.

Excuse the talking in the background of the last two videos, I was watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians whilst in the bath *please don't judge*. Divert your attention away from the wonderful Kardashian clan and focus on the amazing colours that Yoga Bomb produces.

With ingredients such as sandalwood oil and ho wood, you know that you're going to get a very relaxing, calming and soothing bath. It smells quite woody/floral and it is quite a strong smell; not overpowering though! It smells just strong enough to realise that you're bathing in this amazing fragrance; when you get out of the bath, the smell of Yoga Bomb clings to your body for a long time, making you feel like you're still surrounded by those amazing colours.

After the bath bomb has completely fizzled out, you're left with the colours swimming around the bath and a lovely layer of foam that you can feel sinking into your skin and moisturising it. After about 10 minutes, the colours all mix into one and you're left with a deep, glittery orange. Unlike The Experimenter, the different colours don't leave you with a murky coloured bath. The orange is soothing and there isn't too much glitter, so for those of you who hate glitter in baths, don't worry! You can get out of the bath with Yoga Bomb and not worry about glitter covering your body.

I cannot recommend this bath bomb enough! Don't be swayed by the boring outer appearance, the inside of Yoga Bomb is magnificent and the smell in amazing.

Description On Lush:
Take a journey of the self as reassuringly soothing sandalwood oil creates a sanctuary of calm in your bath. When you plunge this meditative fizzer into the water, slow mesmerising shades of oranges, purples and turquoise will unfurl. At the same time deeply relaxing olibanum and ho wood release, fragrancing your body and surroundings. It's the ideal atmosphere to lie back and contemplate life.

Ingredients:
Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Perfume, Cream of Tartar, Cassie Absolute, Olibanum Oil, Ho Wood Oil, Sandalwood Oil, Water (Aqua), Sodium Laureate Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Benzyl, Benzoate, Eugenol, Limonene, Linalool, Snowflake Lustre, Frosty Holly Lustre, Gold Glimmer Lustre, Colour 45410, Colour 42090, Colour 15985, Colour 15985

Ocean Salt Alcohol Free Face and Body Scrub

I'd been hearing all about face scrubs throughout the blogosphere and many people were saying how amazing they were at clearing your face of dead skin and making your face feel refreshed and smooth afterwards. I thought "hey, why not give them a go?"

Obviously, I went to Lush online to get mine.

After looking at all of the face scrubs that they had to offer, I found this one. Now, there are four different types of this face and body scrub. There is the 'Ocean Salt Self-Preserving & Alcohol Free', 'Ocean Salt Self-Preserving', 'Ocean Salt Alcohol Free', and 'Ocean Salt'.

I bought the 'Ocean Salt Alcohol Free'. I wasn't quite sure if I wanted hints of alcohol on my face but maybe that's me just being slightly closed minded (I may have to give it a try after I've finished this pot and I have no idea why I didn't get the alcohol free and self preserving one, sometimes my brain just doesn't work properly!)

I don't use this on my body, only on my face.

I've been using this product now for five days and I can already feel the difference on my face; it's so much more smoother. I use this product every night before I go to bed just to get rid of the dead skin that has built up over the course of the day and I'm left fresh-faced. I then moisturise and toner afterwards to get rid of any excess that I didn't wash off.

The mixture is very salty and you have to get rid of the top layer of salt before you get to the proper mixture of the salt and cream. However, after you've used it about ten times, the mixture isn't as salty and I found that there wasn't the right ratio of salt to cream. There was way more cream than salt, so my face didn't feel like it was getting properly exfoliated.

Word of warning, the face scrub does not stay on your fingers. So don't try to just scrub your face using a few fingers so it doesn't get everywhere. No. It gets all over your hand and a bit of mine kept falling off my hand into the sink.

The amount shown on my fingers above is roughly the amount that I use for my face so as you can see, you don't need that much to do the job properly.

Ocean Salt Alcohol Free smells amazing. It's not too overpowering or non-existent. It's sits somewhere in the middle and the description on the Lush website does the smell justice. You can smell the ocean mixed with a slight hint of citrus; it's smells relaxing and makes me want to go to the beach. Yes, it smells that good!

I thought I would take some amazing and obviously attractive pictures for you guys to see what it looks like when it's applied. I normally leave it on for about a one or two minutes to let it sink it and work it's magic and then I wash it off.

As you can see from the pictures, the amount that I had on my fingers covers the entirety of my face with no problem.

I think the one problem that I have with this product is that there may not be enough salt in it to actually exfoliate with. I completely understand that you need a lot of cream in it as well so you're not  just scrubbing your face raw with just salt, but maybe a bit more would be nice.

Oh! And another word of warning: it WILL get in your mouth somehow and you WILL taste the salt, even when your washing the face scrub off, it gets in your mouth so enjoy the lovely taste of pure saltiness *sarcasm*.

I took this picture pretty much straight after washing my face. I felt so refreshed and my skin felt very very soft. I've heard that this face scrub can also reduce redness so I'm hoping that this will reduce the redness on my face as well. Fingers crossed eh?

Overall, I am really happy with this product, but I may have to use it morning and night because I didn't buy the self-preserving one *groans*. Stupid me...

Description On Lush:
Lime, grapefruit and lashings of salt go into this invigorating scrub. The salty, citrus fragrance is refreshing on the skin and mind, like diving into the cool blue ocean. My Lush Journey

Lush Oxford Street

I'm probably one of the more recent people to fall in love with Lush, to set up a blog about the products and to Instagram or Snapchat the wondrous colours and scents that fill my bath or shower and cover my body.

Upon first hearing about Lush way back when, I didn't think anything of it. Overtime I walked past the store in my local shopping centre, the smell would over power me and I would think that if I stepped into that shop, my nose would simply burn from all of the smells. I can honestly say that the only thing that I admired about Lush at that moment in time was that it was against animal testing and  that all of their products were organic.

What a fool I was eh?

I blame my best friend, Layla for all of this really. It must have been about a year ago? Or a year and a half ago? I remember Layla taking me into Lush and saying "just look at all these products and tell me they're not amazing."

Just some of the bath bombs at the Oxford Street store

Looking around, I saw so many bath bombs, bubble bars, soaps and the famous black tubs. I didn't know where to start, so I just had a quick look around and I was impressed with how amazing the products looked. I didn't buy anything.

The first ever Lush product that I bought - if I remember correctly - was the Sex Bomb bath bomb last June. I used it the moment I got home and boy, was I impressed. I took pictures and put them on Instagram to express my awe. And that guys, was when my obsession began.

Picture of the Sex Bomb bath bomb off my Instagram page

From then on, I was buying any bath bomb or bubble bar I could get my hands on (without breaking the bank, even though it was very tempting). And that's all I would buy at first, the bath products.

I then moved on to try and find the right face mask. So I bought Love Lettuce, Cupcake, Don't Look At Me and Rosy Cheeks and over a long period of time, I found that Cupcake worked best for my complexion.

Cupcake face mask. Picture taken off my Instagram page

Wanting to try a bigger range of Lush products, I went on to buy shower gels/creams then hand and body lotions, scrubs...everything.

Now, I'm ordering massive orders online, buying in the bulk in the shops and refreshing the Kitchen page every second to see if I can get the exclusive items. Obsessed much?

But if there was a company to become obsessed with, it's Lush. Let me repeat: they're against animal testing, most of their products are vegan, they use natural ingredients and they smell AMAZING. Sure, some of the products are better than others, some of the products aren't cheap; but wouldn't you rather spend money on a product that hasn't been tested on animals and is organic, rather than a company that DOES test on animals?

I know what I would rather do.

This shop is amazing. I'm relatively new to this but I can still appreciate and love this company. I'm slowly building up my collection and my knowledge about each of the products and this is what this blog is for.

After having the blog for two months, I had 14,000 views, after three months of blogging, I had 31,000 and as time went on, the page views grew, grew and grew. I was pretty proud of that and I can't wait  to share my experience and my knowledge with you and to try and help you decide which products are for you and I definitely have fun doing it...
